Hi all Just wanted to share my recent experience and write a good recommendation for The Automotive Inspecto.r It's not often you get what's advertised or promised but I can honestly say they exceeded their promise. From first contact to receiving my report i was kept totally informed. They contacted the seller and made all the arrangement and called me once inspection was completed to update me. Later the same evening I received a link via email to follow to my own folder on their server where I was able to view and download everything. 63 photos and lots of other stuff including HPI check Certs and reports, a full print out of my on board diagnostics and a full check list off hundreds of items checked with summary of vehicle condition and advice as to value. All car papers checked and images supplied. I did buy the car and managed to knock off £400 from asking price to cover the cost of a full set of tyres. I don't normally leave reviews but was so impressed. Total cost I paid was £99.99 which I feel was a bargain as I now know my car is spot on. I would recommend using these guys if in London or surrounding counties Daniel

(Edit - difficult to know if this is an attempt at free advertising or not. I'll delete the link but leave the name in.)

Sounds impressive, but after finding out that many of these inspections do not allow for underside inspection involving a post lift , i feel that major areas of concern are not checked ?

What sort of inspection would you expect for £100 ? The money paid reflects the amount of detailed inspection work done. There is only so much that a company can do for £100, and still turn a profit.

However, I personally think that the original post is advertising masquerading as a review.

Daresay the OP might get edited if the mods feel that this is a bit of creative advertising.:-)

Impressive website, if the inspection and service live up to the claims, and the inspector knows his/her onions, this type of service could be worth the cost for people who haven't got the knowledge about or unable to inspect their own.

Suspension exhaust etc appear to be checked, so some underbody poke nosing must be going on, whether thats lying on the floor with the car at its own height (almost pointless on many) or jacking it up and crawling under i'm not sure.

Would be especially interesting if a known poster with fair mechinical knowledge currently looking for a car tried this and offered up a comparison with their own inspection.

Hi again

Sorry for not replying sooner.

I was very impressed with the inspection as it checked many things i would not known about and to be honest most was a bonus as originally i wanted just to be sure the car was honest and genuine with regards to mileage etc.

It is difficult to write a review or recommendation without it seeming as though its some advertising scam i know but in this case i was merely being honest and fair to a company that exceeded what i was expecting.

Wasn't aware that i should not have given the link as i see no point in sharing my view if i can not recommend.

I will go add review to their own website and hope people aren't so cynical.

Sorry. We see a LOT of 'reviews' that are nothing less than blatant plugs for various companies - inspection services, chipping services, buying services, etc. As such, we probably are a little bit too cynical at times.

Glad to hear you had a good experience through them, and their work assisted you in getting a reduction on the price you paid for your vehicle.

I am always cynical of reviews on a companies website

I run a rather small business and appreciate feedback and reviews good or bad as these help us improve and sometimes even pat ourselves on the back for work well done.

I do find that people usually only leave feedback if its bad or to complain and so often the good things go unmentioned.

I know how important a good review is to keep people doing things well and this is why i felt that i had to recommend these guys as they were truly a pleasure to deal with.

Regards

wow your a bundle of laughs! maybe you have had a bad experience in the past but there are still some honest people out there.

Wish i had not bothered now and just sent in a nice email to the company.

I apologise. As moderator part of my job is to delete all attempts at free advertising. Our income comes largely from advertising and our genuine advertisers are naturally upset if someone is seen to get free publicity.

When a new person comes on to the forum and posts a link, this is nearly always a plug for something. I usually delete the whole thread, but as I wasn't sure in your case I left the name up but deleted the link.

It's nice when people post a good experience: it's safer not to include a link, as if it's a reputable business it can be found via Google.

And if not an advert it contains malicious software of somekind.

I tend not to bother reading reviews of any company, In the past I left a deserved bad review of a company I used on a certain business directories website and the company then just paid the said directory to remove the negative review.

Now I always go with word of mouth from people who I know and trust to tell the truth.

Guys

i appreciate the debate as its great to hear various views but i feel that as a small company owner i know how nice is it when someone says something nice about your work or even better your staff commitment.

I shall not be returning here as its clearly not the place to inform people who may visit a website such as this for advice or other people experiences so as to assist with whatever they are looking for assistance with.

I came here as it is predominantly a vehicle related forum.

I see no point in having this forum if as mentioned above you would only cater for your paying advertiser and not someone leaving a good company a nice review.

I am indeed shocked at the level of distrust.

maybe i should leave a review elsewhere detailing my frustration with this forum as not allowing the freedom to leave a simple review.

(Edit - you were allowed to. It's still there, with the name of the business concerned, at the beginning of the thread.)

There are plenty of review sites ... Avant has given you the reasons as to why it was treated with suspicion, and others of us have explained the same to you.

There is a thread (now on page 2 of the 'motoring discussion') concerning leasing Mercedes cars. It looks horribly like advertising spam, which is why Avant has removed the link and details off it. They'd even appeared to create a second account to reply to the original post !

Sadly, those (and lots of posts regarding kit-che-ns, for some reason) seem to be on here regularly. I'm sure there are others which don't even 'go live'.

So, yes, there is distrust. Mainly because being a cynic on any forum these days is essential.

There is an obvious distinction between suggesting a service or source of parts in response to a genuine request for help from a long standing member, and a 'recommendation' out of the blue as a first post.

I too tend to be cynical in my old age.
