Nissan Qashqai+2 - Help Replacing Seat Belt Buckles - takuhii

Hi,

I was wondering, How hard is it to replace the seat belt buckles on a Nissan Qashqai? The previous owner has "fixed" the faulty sensor by just cutting the wires, and I need to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Darren

I'd get a proper auto electrician to do it. Do bear in mind that getting it wrong could fire off the airbags, and the seatbelt pretensioners are (basically) small explosive charges.

Ah b*****! I thought i could just buy new buckles and the connector plugged in? :(

I agree with Rob, airbags and their associated bits are something i leave for those skilled enough to do them safely.

There's a patch in the corrugated roof of the rather high lorry workshops at one place i used to work, the hole was made by a standard car airbag (or something holding it down) the lads deliberately set off, makes you wonder what would happen if your bonce was near to the steering wheel as you fiddled with something electrical

I guess it depends which sensor you are referring to.If it is the seat belt warning light sensor ,then i can't see this being a problem. If it is the airbag system fault, then the airbag warning light will be illuminated and I would leave it to a specialist.

It's not the sensor, it is the entire casing that the seatbelt plugs into. They look like they bolt on and there's a power connector for the sensor in the casing itself.

I just wondered how easy it was... as this seems to have got blown out of proportion...

These just unbolt and the wiring connector plugs in .They are not airbag related connections or a pyrotechnic device. If they were, they would usually be coloured yellow.
