Modeo 2.0 tdci 54 plate - Mondeo goes into limp mode - chris250182

Hi guys, sorry if this has been covered before, I'm a newbie here. I have a mondeo 2.0 tdci on a 54 plate and I've noticed it will occasionally go into limp mode if I go quick out of the lights then quickly shift from third to fourth gear. Unfortunately I haven't been able to replicate it under controlled conditions so cannot be sure it is quick gear changes at high acceleration causing it.

Shutting off the engine and restating it instantly cures the problem and I bought a little diagnostic device online to plug into the car but no codes come up for it. The car drives perfectly the rest of the time. Any ideas anyone?

those little code readers are ok, but generally will only read EOBD emission related faults, If its going into limp mode then there should be codes stored, but you will probably need better diagnostic gear to extract them.

Most likely sticky turbo vanes causing an overboost. The ECM then limits engine power to prevent possible damage. The variable vane (VNT) turbo can be removed and carefully dismantled for thorough cleaning of the vanes using an appropriate cleaner. Google 'Innotec Turbo Clean'.

Cheers guys, I'll look into it as soon as cash allows.
