Citroen C4 - Trouble selecting certain gears - roberto82

Good morning, I stumbled across this forum looking for advice for a car I recently bought.

My issue is trying to select 5th and reverse on a 2005 1.4 citroen c4. Cars got around 82k and we bought it as a 2nd car. Really happy with it but not been able to select the gears can be a bit embarrassing, especially reverse as I recently found out coming into my work car park the other day.

Car bought privately and it's intermittent so didn't pick it up on the test drive.

Any advice or links is much appreciated.

Could be the linkage that has worn on the joints, is there any free play in the lever.

Thanks for replying. Yes quite a bit of play actually. Is it fairly easy to change the links or is it best letting the garage sort it out?
