My Rover 416gti (1991) - spike
Can anyone help me, I recently went to wire in a new stereo into my rover only to find that the live was not actually red but purple is this correct? Also I need to find a perminent live for the stereos memory any suggestions?

There is always a permanent live feed to the clock and this is what I have always used when wiring in a stereo as regards the memory connection. If it isn't too much trouble to get to it might be worthwhile using a wire from there.

Can't help you with the other matter unfortunately!

It still has a permanent live feed to it to maintain its time. On my Cavalier I removed the clock, stuck a wire on the always +ve feed to it and then poked (with enormous difficulty) a wire down through the dash to where the radio was, providing me with the permanent 12v connection.

any suggestions?

There should already be one there that was connected to the original stereo. If you don't have a multimeter, lash up a 12volt bulb with a couple of leads. Connect one lead to earth and use the other to seek out the perm live connection.

If you still have the original plug intact you can always spend a few quid on a manufacturer to ISO plug adapter. Halfords sell 'em and they convert your original loom plug to the current standard.

I have the ISO connectors its just the one in the cars loom was chopped off before I bought the car and so I have no idea what is perminante - its the first car i've seen where the live is purple. There is also a red and a green could either of these be live?
