Kerbing - hillman

I noticed the silver hue of a kerb approaching a bend in the road near to a small industrial estate and a council estate. That looks as though somebody, or a number of drivers, regularly kerb their wheels as they prepare for the bend. The bend is awkward, on a three way junction, and drivers often have to give way and crowd over to make way for bigger vehicles. When a wheel was kerbed in yesteryear the kerb became black from the rubber of the tyre wall. Now that tyres frequent are very narrow and don't have bulging walls then the wheel rim gets polished every time the kerb is brushed.
