VW polo 2002 - Spark plug and coil pack test.

VW polo 2002 - Spark plug and coil pack test. - Robvwpolo

Hi, just want to check the spark plugs and coil packs on my VW polo 3 cylinder engine.

Is it safe to remove the spark plugs, attatch them back the to the coil packs and start the engine to check to see if I'm getting a spark on all 3?

Just make sure the metal threaded part of the plugs are earthed.

And don't forget to unplug the injectors, you don't want neat fuel getting into the catalyst.

Talking of which, the 3 cyl engines can suffer from injector failure so if you have a misfire and the coils/plugs check out OK, they'll be next on the list to check out.

Timing chain problems and pencil coils failure are the usual suspects on these.never seen an injector fault on one of these.Also make sure you use the correct make/type spark plugs .
