You have to wonder how they stay in business without taking short cuts and then wonder what those shortcuts are.

I've used my good independent for MoT, servicing and repairs for about 20 years - they never charge full price but do a thorough job without going into "sales" mode - at £20 instead of £45, just what do you get.

A piece of A4 stating your car is fit for the road and you can buy some RFL. Why pay more than necessary?

I use a smallish tyre and exhaust chain which covers a fairly similar patch in the southern counties. £22.95 and on the two occasion in around six years that I've had a fail, it's been justified.

An MOT test just like any other testing station!

MOT testing centres are regulated and licensed by the Department and Transport and VOSA and the individual testers carrying out the inspections also have to be trained and certified. Secret spot checks are carried out on testing centres to make sure standards are met.

An MOT test certificate confirms that at the time of test, the vehicle has met the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards. It does not mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the life of the certificate.
