Nisan Micra 1.0 53 plate (poss K11 engine?) - Engine Started - cut out - now engine light on - wispy

My other half started his micra tonight to go to work, felt the battery maybe a bit lazy but it started ok - he drove about 100 yards and it cut out. Struggled to re-start it and then the engine light came on.

He stopped engine to see whether the engine light would reset but then it wouldn't restart as battery had flattened.

We managed to jump-start it from mine and the engine light stayed on so we think the flat battery is really only a secondary issue.

I've seen a few posts relating to throttle bodies and timing chains but they don't really seem to fit with this so I wondered if anyone had any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

A 53 plate Micra could be either the early K11 or later K12 model. The battery may be an issue, but you need to get some diagnostic equipt plugged in to see if there are any relevent faults logged .hth

Thanks for reply - thinking we'll need to take it to garage tomorrow and see if they can diagnose (well if it starts anyway!)

Hi again - looks like its the timing chain (!) reading through old threads on here that would be £1k ish to do :(

Has anyone done this job themselves?
