Design of Puffin Crossings - PLS
In my village a Puffin Crossing is being installed outside a neighbours front garden.

A few days before work started the Highway Authority served him and his next door neighbour with a notice to cut back their well trimed hedge to their boundary ( a few inches). They are complying but the distance between the traffic light poles and their garden boundary still seems very small. There seems room only for people to walk single file past the crossing and the footpath will be effectively blocked by someone waiting to use the crossing. Exiting the crossing with a push chair or with a wheelchair will also be difficult.

It seems the Highway Authority wanted to site the crossing elsewhere where there was more space but the local parish council (in a 50:50 partnership) insisted on the present site.

Now it seems the authorities have woken up to the narrow footpath. Without compulsory purchase of the front of the garden they seem to be in a bit of a pickle.

What can the Highway Authority and/or my neighbour do?
