The majority of the time everything is fine, but recently in the past few days I've had a problem with my alarm. When I pull over, switch off the engine, get out of the car and lock it the alarm sounds (constant beeping). I've tried deactivating it by using the key as shown in the manual but this doesn't work. Sometimes the alarm stops beeping if I start the engine again but sometimes it doesn't. The other day the alarm was beeping for around 3 hours then it all of a sudden stopped. The alarm has also been beeping whilst I have been driving around which can be quite embarrassing.. The nearest Audi dealer is quite some distance from my home so if anyone can give me a clue to what could be wrong I'd be very grateful. Thanks..

I suspect you have a problem with the alarm siren internal battery. When the battery starts to lose power, this causes problems with false alarms and unregulated sounding. The best option is to disconnect it and remove it from the car.Nothing else will be affected. The siren is usually located in the boot area ,below one of the rear lights.Possibly left side.hth

Had a similar problem on my OH's 04 1.6 Sport, it turned out to be water leakage from the rear washer.

The water seeps from the washer/wiper motor on to the microswitch in the hatch lock mechanism shorting the switch and triggering the alarm.

If you have recently used the rear washers there is a good chance this is the case.

May require a new £wiper motor or a mod kit, I just dryed out the switch, sealed it and resist from using the rear washer.

This sounds interesting. My rear wiper is moving ok but there is no liquid coming from the nozzles whereas on the front there is. I've been meaning to have a look at it for a while but I haven't had a chance.. This will be my priority in the morning. Thanks for that!!

The randomness of your problem sounds like water ingress.

The center spindle of the motor feeds the washer nozzle, it corrodes and leaks water into the hatch.

Carefully prise the plastic off the hatch interior and dry the switch out, it will probably be soaking in there.

Whether you decide to replace the motor is up to you, I didn't as it works OK sans the washer which can be lived without and isn't an MOT failure.

Spot on!! This would explain why theres no water coming from the nozzles, instead it's just leaking out.. I'll have a look first thing in the morning and see what the story is.. Fingers crossed its wet in there, at least then I'll know what the problem is.. Once again, thanks for your help, it's very much appreciated!!
