BMW X1 2010 - Swirl Flaps - willboy

My X1 has done 45000 miles--is it advisable to have swirl flaps removed(don't even know what they are but understand that they can fall into the engine))

Not on X1 do not worry about them.

The problem was cured many years ago.

It all depends on the engine you have and when the car was built

all you need to know about BMW swirl flaps is here (some X1s were affected):

If you are unlucky there are lots of blanking plate kits out there.
