Buying an S Cross 1.4Mhev 6 speed - Rejected her old car after 3 months - Maxime.

Daughter finally bought a new car about 4 months ago. Multiple electrical gremlins and not seen a lot of it recently as she left it at the dealers each time as appointments were always weeks ahead, (they have still got another car which is basically a tip-runner but does the job.)

Has finally rejected the car just on 3 months having had it for a grand total of 23 days.

Dealer concerned has been good and car has been refunded less 3 months payments, but is happy to escape with that,

A neighbour who is stopping driving has a 23 plate S-Cross with about 11.000 miles on it, 3 suzuki dealer stamps and has offered it at a very reasonable cash price below what she would even pay from autotrader.

Any thoughts.. she has to decide this week,

If it suits her needs, I'd say buy it.

What was the rejected car?

Only had a Vitara, Swift and a couple of Ignis'. Test drove an SCross.

If its the 1.6 then imo worthy but dull. The 1 4t is imo the best engine they made, apart from the 1.0t. Not owned the Hybrid version. But Suzuki engineering is solid.

If the price is good buy it.

Nothing to fear with that, as Ethan has posted there well made, yes some plastics are a bit hard inside but in all honesty how often does the really matter?

Currently on my third Suzuki ( new shape Swift), can't see a reason to change brands...

The 1.4T mild hybrid is a real peach btw, my previous Vitara with the same engine was a joy to own and never gave a moments trouble.

Being nosey, what are they asking for it?

They are retailing about £15500 to nearly £18.500, all less than 15000 miles 0n autotrader We can have it for £15.000. It looks "as new" (yes!) and has been well looked after and serviced. dealer apparently says servicing warranty is transferrable up to 10 years provided suzuki serviced. will check tomorrow.

Slight edit.. 2 dealer stamps.. not due for 3rd service for a couple of months but it's on a service plan which he says will cover the service in September. There are slightly higher mileage ones available for less but daughter likes this one in metallic red.

Suzuki now offer similar warranty to Toyota. After the three year manufacturer warranty every main dealer service includes a further 1 year warranty up to 10 years 100,000 miles.

Daughter has a 9 year old Suzuki, colleagues have ones of similar age, a Vitara and and S cross and no issues with any of them.

Indeed, thread title makes it seem the S Cross was the car being rejected!

The reject was a Corsa e.

last night she had thoughts and will negotiate on price there are other options available for the same car with fairly similar mileages for a bit less so here we go!

Hubby says we are to keep out of negotiations as they'll have to finance it themselves.

Interesting. I had one on a lease and it also had a number of electrical issues. Temperamental central locking and occasional refusal.to start were the main ones. Both could be fixed by opening the boot...

I tried a vitara last year, not enthusiastic. Recently went with a friend to let him try an S Cross.

Not enthusiastic either. It drove well but we both hated the seats. ( I did a few miles driving as well) It did drive well.!

Poor instrument visibility as per the vitara and touch screen info centre showing lots of reflections.

For someone who can live with the seats must be a good cheap choice and good value at just over a year old for £16-17000.

I think one of the reasons that people buy Suzuki, is for their confidence in reliability. They a functional no frills motor which does the job . My Oh has a Vitara , the only thing “touch “ is the media screen . Everything else is knobs buttons and switches. It’s even got a conventional handbrake

Agreed, but for me the seats left a lot to be desired. The S Cross a few days ago with my friend who is a bit poor in his car choices.. He liked the drive. Didn't like the reflections on the media centre and the poor to read speedo. Did like the speed limit alert sign between the speedo and rev counter and didn't like the lumbar support.

I made the identical mistake 4 years ago when I bought the Kia Stonic. lasted 6 weeks with my back.

I honestly prefer the seats in my 14 yr old Venga to the Suzuki, but we are all different.

One neighbour did listen to me and got a Sportage.

I'm sorry ORB, I understand we're all different shapes and sizes but in all honesty not sure I've ever been in or driven a car that I couldn't get comfortable in after adjustment, took my Vitara to Scotland twice ( 602 miles each way) and never once felt any aches etc.

The illumination on the speedo is a simple matter of adjustment, reflections on the media centre?? Surely a product of the direction of travel and time of day?
