Your insurers would probably not appreciate you modifying the suspension even if it passed an MOT. Suggest you check with them first.

Surely there are specialist Toyota breakers out there who can help.

How about these. www.carpartlister.co.uk/breaking-vehicles/toyota/c.../

From the mot manual, suspension component missing or an unsafe modification is a fail. Your only possible get out, is if some models were not fitted with an arb from new. On the transit connect vans, some models do have an arb, some don't.

Another possible get out might be if the tester forgot it had had one. Some of them are human.

Has it actually failed?. Roll bars are fairly substantial and it would take a lot of corrosion to significantly weaken one.

Linkages are another matter. I've had a Nissan Sunny failed because the flexible mounting link was rusted solid. Very difficult to remove.

Replaced it with one from an abandoned car so a technical theft.

Come and get me copper!

The anti roll bar serves a specific and definite purpose, to keep the outside wheel on the road when you go round a bend. You would not want to drive your car without one unless you're happy to lose control of it.

The only wheels I have seen off the road on a bend have been on the inside ??

Jim Clark's and Graham Hill's Lotus Cortinas always took Lodge corner at Oulton Park with the inside front wheel a good 6" off the tarmac.

Presumably they were set up that way, seemed to work as they beat the 7 litre Ford Galaxie's they were competing against.

In my experience, a rear anti-roll bar improves 'turn in'. Many triallers remove them both (front and rear) altogether to improve articulation.
