Porsche Alloys:

If the car was advertised with the 18" alloys and you were happy to go ahead with the purchase and spent three happy years with the car then what's the problem? If you want an extra £4000 because the car didn't have 20" alloys when you bought it, all the garage needs to say is if the car came with 20" alloys, the purchase price would have been £4000 more than you paid.

Where you may have a case is if you had an accident and the insurer refused to payout because the car's spec had been changed from when it was supplied. I very much doubt that would ever happen though because as HJ suggests, the 18" wheel is a cheaper option. I'm sure the insurer would rather pay out for an 18" wheel and tyre than a 20".

I agree with that Scott unless, of course, it could be alleged the different wheels in some way contributed to the accident. I also assume the profile of the new tyres were much deeper to make up for the reduced wheel diameter or his speedo has been mis-reading the whole time !

Correct. He didnt do his home work on the car either if he only found out the original spec was 20" wheels. Or did he not rea;ise the car was substantially cheaper than it would have been on 20" rims?

Age old problem - Im surprised HJ didnt suggest the Renault Twingo instead of the Smart. They are essentially the same car and the Twingo looks better to me. You also wouldnt be paying silly Smart \ MB dealer servicing costs either.

My wife suffers from arthritis but finds getting into and out of our 2016 Twingo a breeze. Sadly Renault have no intention to import the new model Twingo to the UK.

The Porsche issue, do main dealers give way above average part exchange prices. As if they are offering more than it's worth elsewhere the £4k difference will never be recouped anyway off anybody (assuming it's even true). Buy a Mazda MX5 Roadster.
