Hi.Today I replaced a power steering hose on my Rover 623.I took the distributor cap off and cranked the engine to bleed the power hoses (as recommended in the Haynes manual) now I have no spark from my ignition coil.could this action have damaged the coil? thanks

Firstly, you need the engine running to bleed the pas system. So bad advice from Mr haynes.Secondly, cranking the engine with cap off, means there is no load on the coil and may have spiked either the coil or the igniter unit(also in the dizzy)
