Renting a van - LinuxGeek

I need to rent a long wheel base van for one day between xmas and new year to do a 400 miles round trip to Leeds. Enterprise and Thrifty are the cheapest with Thrifty asking few quid extra. Which one of the two would you pick from your personal experiences (if any)? As its a 400 mile round trip I want van to be as economical as possible and comfortable. I believe Enterprise would more than likely have a Renault Master and Thrifty would be either a Mercedes or VW but I could be wrong!

Its only a one off trip, you are not buying it so just get the cheapest and/or most convenient that will do the job.

As for fuel costs, the difference between 30 and 35 mpg over 400 miles is under 2 gallon so not even worth considering is it.

Used Enterprise a few times and no bother. Never used Thrifty. Nothgate are very good but don't know if they are nationwide. I hired the big Mercedes vans and they are excellent. Easy to drive and manouvre and good on fuel.

For a one off it is a toss of a coin really.

Enterprise / Thrifty?

Have you tried any LOCAL hire companies - usually a good bit cheaper than the Nationals.

Only saying this after the rip-off add-ons when hiring cars from the Nationals - Hiring from the Nationals was OK when I was working as the rates were good - private hire + add-ons were expensive!
