Citroen C3 - citroen c3 2007 for new driver? - Kre

Hello, Can anyone advise whether the citroen c3 2007 model is a good one? I am a new driver (aged 50), looking for something fairly small, but I do need reasonable space for passengers in the back, as I will usually have 2 nearly teenagers sitting in the back.

Thanks very much.

My only experince of C3's is of one my daughter had that I drove a couple of times. It had the 'automatic' transmission, she bought it new and after a succession of problems (broken front springs, electrical gremlins, useless main dealer) got rid after 12 months.

I would personally suggest a similar sized Japanese or Korean petrol car (Toyota/Honda/Kia/Hyundai) is likely to be more reliable than a Citroen of that age.

C3 can have a proper TC auto box, and very nice it is too but rare as hens teeth, found in the top range petrol 1.6 SXi if my memory serves.

Citroens of this era can be superb little cars, or they can be a right PITA, i've known people who have taken small Citroens round the clock twice and swear by them, i know others who's only comment about them is swearing, i think they like all cars respond to good care and mechanical sympathy, where they differ from proper Japanese petrol cars is that even if neglected and abused the Japanese stuff will soldier on regardless.

Whilst i agree broadly with Galileo, if the Citroen is a known car with known care and history and is cheap enough it might be worth a punt (but do not buy the automated manual box designed by satan that Galileo refers to), but if its just a n other car on a dealers forecourt you would probablt be better off in a late Corolla or Yaris/Auris or Civic or Ceed.

The 'nearly teenagers' are going to grow considerably during the time you have this car. I'd suggest the next size up, and absolutely agree that Japanese (and petrol-powered) is the way to go for the reasons given above.

Have a look at the Nissan Note, Toyota Auris and Mazda 3: the Honda Jazz is roomy and might be big enough, and it has better rear visibility than the Honda Civic.

+1 to the note, good legroom and headroom.
