Fiat Punto 57 plate - Fiat Punto Faulty Boot Lock - wrighty22

Hello

My car has just failed the MOT because you cannot open the boot from the outside. You have to manually lift the catch from climbing over the back seats from the inside.

I have central locking on the car and all other locks work fine.

Any ideas what the problem could be and how best to get it fixed?

Thanks

Lisa

Could be the motor itself in the lock mechanism. Or it could be a wiring fault.

However, I'm pretty certain that it is NOT an MOT failure on a passenger car.

Item 6.2.B.1 deals with passenger doors (and the boot is NOT a passenger door) and requires that :

a. each door latches securely in the closed position.

b. the drivers and front passenger doors can be opened from both inside and outside the vehicle.

c. any other passenger door can be opened from outside the vehicle.

Item 6.4.1 (load security), requires that :

Check that any bootlid, tailgate, loading door, access panel, hinged tailboard or dropside is or can be secured in the closed position.

What was the EXACT failure detail given on the notice ?
