55 Reg Zafira 1600 petrol - Oil consumption - freman

My daughter in laws car has suddenly aquired a huge thirst for engine oil.

It does not appear to be burning it, & the engine is very clean, no deposists on parking places etc. She is not overfilling it either

Ihave heard that it is a characteristic of these engines.

Any suggestions please

If its not leaking out the engine is burning it.

If the car is running OK keep topping the oil up. Don't let it run low. It could carry on for years or it could die tomorrow. If it dies at 10 years old the best solution would be an engine from a scrapper.

What do you consider a "huge thirst for engine oil.".

Has she had a recent service and they have used the wrong oil. Is the oil breather system clear and working.
