Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 CRTD - Slow rev pickup from cold. - ScoBro

Hi Folks

My Wifes got a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.0 CRTD Auto with 94K on the clock.

I bought it as a non runner with a snapped cambelt. Replaced all the necessary parts, got it running. Also did a full service whilst I was there, Oil, oil filter, air filter, fuel filter, Auto box fluid etc.

Problem seems to be when it is cold, and you first start in the morning, It really struggles for the rev's to pick up. It does it in neutral as well as drive so eliminating the gearbox.

When it's warm it is a little better. Once it hits the Turbo band it really flies. Goes very well indeed. But with the need to pull away from cold up a hill where we live, the revs basically sit at 1500 and the car struggles to move.

The EGR is blanked, and the air pipe plugged. I have tried disconnecting the MAF but this makes it worse. Hardly revs atall then.

Any Ideas? Getting stuck on ideas. I did think that it may be to do with cold diesel maybe?

From cold there is a bit of smoke from the exhaust. When hot nothing, even on flat out rev's.

Thanks
