My used car has had faults since I bought it - will my warranty cover them?
"I purchased a used Jeep Wrangler from a dealer for £20,000. They told me the car had been serviced by themselves, including all oil changes. Upon driving home, the car didn't feel right. I rang the dealer and he said all should be okay, if I had any problems to call Warranties 2000. I registered my issues with them and explained my worry about the clutch or gearbox (that's my guess as to what's wrong). I'm now concerned to as how much this is going to cost me and if they will dispute or payout."
If the problem you are experiencing pre-existed your purchase of the car and the warranty, then it isn't covered by the warranty. A warranty cannot cover a pre-existing fault. The dealer himself is liable for that and remains liable for any fault that could have been present or developing in a car for six months from the purchase date. Seems to me that this dealer is trying to wriggle out of his legal liability: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/

Just out of warrantee gearbox failure
"My Jeep's 3 year warranty ran out in May 2010, but the car has only covered 42000 miles to date, with regular dealer service. The auto gearbox has failed suddenly and totally and Chrysler Customer Service do not feel abliged to completely replace the gearbox at their cost. Their brochure for this model quotes extensive 150,000 user miles testing and ruggedness etc, and 60,000 miles warrantees. This is the 3rd Jeep I have owned due to their (normally) good quality. Is it unreasonble for the manufacturer to consider replacing this faulty gearbox after comparitivley few road miles?"
Chrysler Jeep is in disarray following the FIAT take over so is not in any kind of shape to pressurise over a thing like this. If they won't offer any goodwill, get it out of the dealer and to a member of http://www.fedauto.co.uk who will be much more competent to fix it at reasonable cost.
