What's caused unusual tyre wear on the front of my Audi A5 coupe?

Following a blow-out of the front driver's side wheel of my Audi A5 coupe, the RAC recovery vehicle took me to a garage to have the tyre replaced and the tracking checked, as both tyres were worn on the inside tread. The tracking was severely out of alignment, although the car had done 11,000 miles and was 16 months old, with a retired woman driver using the vehicle for personal use only. Audi says the tracking problem was caused by normal wear and tear due to potholes etc and they are not liable. I am not happy with this - both front tyres could have gone at speed on a motorway, with disastrous results. Is this sort of problem normal?

This was probably caused by driving over chamfered edge speed cushions which have a devastating effect on the inner shoulders of car tyres and, of course, the tracking.
