Does it make sense to change my 2003 BMW 320 for a newer Ford Mondeo TDCI estate?

I have owned a 2003 BMW 320 DSE tourer almost from new. It has now done 83,000 miles and has been faultless. In order to avoid potentially costly repairs I am seriously thinking of changing it, perhaps for one of the Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi estate variants. Does the timing of the sale of the BMW make economic sense and will the Mondeo be a satisfactory replacement?

The BMW currently trades at about £4600 - £4700. And you'll be looking at £10,000 - £11,000 for an 08 Mondeo 2.0TDCI 140 Zetec estate. You won't feel any drop in quality.
