I've been charged for falling asleep at a motorway service station. Can I ignore it?

My son stopped at a motorway service station and fell asleep for three hours because of tiredness. He has just received a parking charge letter, with registration details and stating that the time stayed was three hours 22 minutes. Can I ignore this charge as it was a safety issue?

No. Simply send them a cheque for £10 "in reasonable compensation for my breach of contract in overstaying the alloted parking time at the service area." Also write, "If you disagree with this fair and reasonable settlement, please notify the time, date and location of the small claims court where you will sue for more."
