Recommend a small, fun replacement for my Renault Megane Elise?

I want to replace my much-enjoyed Renault Megane Elise as it's now over 10 years old, but I don't know what to buy. I think all the medium cars are bigger than this now (wider and longer) so I'm considering a supermini, but want one thats fun to drive, reasonably economical and not in a high insurance group. My Megan is group 13 I think.

A Mazda 2 1.3TS2 via www.drivethedeal.com. It gets a revamp next month, so existing stocks are at a discount.
