My Vauxhall Vectra automatic is creeping forward at tickover - what's wrong with it?

I've just bought a 2002 Vauxhall Vectra 1800 auto. The ECU light has just started to come on when driving and this has only happened after the last service. It runs nicely but I think the tickover is slightly high. The car requires a reasonable braking pressure to stop moving forward. The tacho indicates about 850rpm.

They bung up their EGR valves and the bodge fix is to remove them entirely then recalibrate the ECU. Some garages know how to do this, and others don't.

Far better than previous Vectra. Now with decent handling and an excellent ride. Plenty of safety kit. Roomy in the front. Big boot. Good looks.
