Which are the quietest and most comfortable tyres for the Toyota Avensis?

My father recently bought a 2008 Toyota Avensis with 16-inch wheels and is very pleased with it. Could you recommend the best tyres for comfort, quietness and perhaps economy? The car came with Dunlop Sport tyres. Also, as he intends to keep the car for a long time - his Carina lasted 13 years - is it worth changing the lightweight spare for a proper wheel?

Michelin Pilot Primacy HPs. It's up to him whether he wants to buy a same size road wheel and tyre as a spare, but the old five-wheel rotation to even out wear is old hat now, and anyway he already has two fronts and two rears with different wear to them.
