My Ford Focus won't idle properly after a timing belt change - did I miss something?

I had a bit of trouble changing my 2002 Ford Focus Zetec 1.6's timing belt as I didn't know to use a timing locking pin, but after putting in new valves, replacing the head and timing belt, the car starts ok. When it's running it's like a brand new engine. but when I stop the idle sounds like its going to cut out and sometimes does. Any ideas if I missed something?

If the engine is running ok but will not idle, it could be a number of faults, but in light of what you have done I would suggest that you check for any air leaks on the inlet side of your engine, for example whether the air pipes are properly connected. If not that, you may want to recheck your ignition timing.
