A garage misfuelled my Saab 9-3 Convertible - should I ask for an engine warranty?

I took my Saab 9-3 in for its first service which was completed late and left the car dirty. The garage agreed to collect the car and perform a valet as a gesture of goodwill. However, on returning the car to my home, the garage driver topped up the tank with petrol rather than diesel and drove 20 miles to my house. The garage have just recovered the car on a flat bed lorry and will drain the tank and refill with diesel. What other work or parts replacement should they perform? Also should I ask for an engine warranty in case they do not complete the correct work?

Send a letter by special or recorded delivery to the dealer principal of the garage stating your concern and stating that, should there be any problem with the fuel injection system of your car within the next two years, you hold the garage responsible. That then makes it a legal matter of record that cannot be denied by the garage in the future.
