Has the EcoBoost engine reported any problems yet?

I'm looking at a 12 to 18 month old Ford Focus or Cmax. The 1.0 EcoBoost has been around a while now, have any problems arisen in longevity or is it as good as it appears? Can't see diesel as an option for us with mileage and the current hate campaign, which would leave 1.6 petrol as the option. Thoughts?

Yes. There were some problems with the turbos early on. These are watercooled turbos and the coolant capacity of the engine, turbo, radiator and heater matrix is small. What happened was the turbo coolant pipe fractured and when that happened the whole engine got wrecked. But this was a very early issue. No recent reports. The Peugeot/Citroen 1.2 PureTech engine is similar, but a later design with better torque and no problems so far reported.
