Should I trade in my Volvo S60 for a BMW 320 SE Touring?

I currently run a 52-plate Volvo S60 2.0L petrol with 110,000 miles on the clock and with its MOT due. It's been a good runner and I picked it up five years ago. Now I'm getting itchy feet and contemplating a 2007 BMW 320 SE 2.0 diesel Touring with 87,000 miles priced at £9500. I do approximately 6000 miles a year. Am I mad and foolish with the money, or is swapping older for newer good timing?

Makes sense to me. I don't think this model suffers DPF trouble when driven the short mileage you are contemplating. But generally, for 6000 miles a year, petrol makes more sense than diesel.
