Buying a used diesel - Mazda 3 or Honda Civic?

My budget is around £6000- £6500 and I'm looking for a reliable and economical used car. I do around 10,000 miles a year. What would you recommend between the Honda Civic 2.2 diesel (2007-2010 model) or the Mazda 3 1.6 diesel (late 2009-2011)?

The Civic is better. This particular Mazda had a Ford/PSA engine and it has been trouble. Another advantage of the Civic is that it doesn't have DPF (no room for one).
