Volkswagen Golf engine failure - do I have grounds to make a legal claim?

I have a 2009 Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI. It has always been serviced at the main dealer (who I also bought it from) and covered 64,000 miles. A coolant leak developed a few months ago but the dealer couldn't at first find the cause. Now after the third time of going in they've phoned to say it's a leak in the engine flange and will cost £3k to fix. That's probably what the car is worth. Do I have any grounds to claim against Volkswagen?

A 2009 is seven years old, so no basis for a claim under Sale of Goods or subsequent legislation and case law: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/ We have recorded more faults on the Golf VI than any other car ever. Including yours, the count is now 151 since January 2011: www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volkswagen/golf-vi-2.../ Very upsetting because of the high level of expectation people have of Volkswagens.
