Need a used small family car for £5000 - what would you recommend?

I have £5000 to spend on a used car. It must have five-doors and space to fit a buggy in the boot. I have been looking at the Mazda 3 (2010 model), are these any good?

If you can find a Mk II Honda Jazz 1.4iVTEC manual for your money that has a comparatively huge and very versatile interior. Also impressively reliable.

Mazda 3 are okay. Focus-sized. All except the 1.6 diesel are chain cam petrol engines. But not as practical and versatile as a Jazz.
