Will Volkswagen 'defeat device' update cause MoT problems?

My 2012 VW Golf 2 litre diesel turbo has a 'defeat device'. I have noted in your forum that some Tiguan drivers with same engine have had impaired engine performance following software change to 'correct' the device. I therefore do not wish to have this 'update'. Will there be a problem with MOTs if I do not have it done? Or would I just not mention the issue?!

No reason for this to affect MoTs. The general advice now (which VW will probably welcome) is not to have it done because of the problems that can develop with the cars subsequently. As long as VW offers the 'fix', that gets VW off the hook. You are not compelled to have it done.
