Buying a used XC60 - which engine is best?

I'm looking to buy a second hand XC60 - I've looked at a 2012 model for £19k but the more I look into it, the more I am tempted to spend more, buying a post update 2014 model with the newer engines. My research suggests 2.0 D4 as the best used buy. Will I notice the difference the additional £7k cost will make or should I be a little less demanding in my requirements in order to save money

No doubt the new Volvo 2.0 litre 184PS engine is more efficient, but it's not as efficient in XC60s and XC90s as it is in S60s and V60s which will do nearly 60mpg, whereas you're lucky to get 35 from an XC60 and 30 from an XC90. See www.honestjohn.co.uk/realmpg
