Buying a used small car for £5k

My son would like to buy a Ford Fiesta size car for about £4000 to £5000, I have told him you can't go too far wrong with a Fiesta. Are there any other cars he should consider?

Toyota Yaris and Ford Fiesta. Curiously we receive very few complaints about the Vauxhall Corsa.
