Have put the wrong fuel in my Jaguar XF - what should I do?

I've filled my Jaguar XF S diesel with the wrong fuel, using petrol instead of diesel. The car was driven for about 0.5 of a mile before it stopped. My local Jaguar dealer is quoting £8000 to replace the fuel pump, injectors and fuel lines. My insurance company has refused to cover the costs.

The quote is eye-watering, but I suspect this is what's required. The car is still under warranty so I'm loathed to go elsewhere. Does this figure sound about right?

As long as the fuel injection pump did not seize up, what I would do is have the tank and fuel system drained, replace the fuel with Shell V-Power Nitro Plus, add a high lubricity additive such as Wynns (read the label). Then hope for the best. Unfortunately, if the injection pump seized then you are in trouble.
