Space master spare wheel inflation problems

I purchased an SLK 350 but had a puncture and tried to inflate the space master spare wheel, it would only release one tyre wall from the rim and therefore inflated on an angle so was useless and dangerous. I have scoured the country to try to find a second hand replacement as I have been quoted £219 at MB. What should I do?

Early Porsche 928s also had this type of spare tyre. It obviously deteriorates over time. But if a full sized space saver will not fit you have no choice other than to replace it. Aerosol tyre repair kits don't work 95% of the time and then ruin the tyre they have been tried on. Almost completely useless and subject to the greatest number of call-outs by the AA and RAC.
