Buying a used Honda Jazz - which automatic?

My brother needs an automatic car to get to work. He wants a very reliable car with a flexible interior on a budget of around £6000 which can carry a bike. The Jazz gets very good reviews but the i-Shift seems to get quite negative feedback. Can he only buy a very old or very new Jazz to get the more favoured CVT transmission?

That's right. Mk 1 Jazz up to 2008, or Mk II from February 2011. Unlikely to get a Mk II 1.4iVTEC CVT-7 for £6k: www.honestjohn.co.uk/used-prices/Honda/Jazz/2011/?.../ Might get a bigger Civic 1.8 i-VTEC 5-speed torque converter auto: www.honestjohn.co.uk/used-prices/Honda/Civic/2009/.../ that replaced the i-shift from February 2009.
