Where do I sell to realise the most for a personalised registration plate?
I have a number plate that I would like to sell. I inherited many years ago and I believe it should be worth a decent amount of money. However when I've approached one of the main buyers and sellers of registrations they offered me only £10k. Looking at similar examples on their website with only one letter different they are selling for £35-40k. I realise that these people need to make money but the offer seems far too low. The number plate is three letters with a '1' at the end so I would assume it's fairly sought after. Would I be better trying to sell privately and if so where would you suggest? I've searched the internet and cant seem to find anyone with any firm recommendations.

You pay the dealers a flat fee to appear in their ads. Your alternative is to advertise yourself. I think The Sunday Times carries classified ads for cherished registrations. Obviously you need to be sure that you can sell it, but presumably you know how to check that and presumably it's on a car from which it can be transferred.
