Which petrol family car returns the best economy?

I would like to buy a new or nearly new petrol family estate or SUV - probably either a Volvo (V70 or V60) or Audi (A4 or Q5)- but all the good buys (and reasonable mpg)seem to be diesel. Are there any petrol alternatives?

That's right. More than 90% are diesel and obviously the petrol examples use more fuel. But Q5s can now be fitted with VAG's EA888 2.0TFSI 220PS engine, and you can also get this in the forthcoming new Skoda Superb.
