Buying a used Volvo V40 - which model is best?

I am currently downsizing from an Audi A6 avant and have set my mind on getting a Volvo V40. I have found two versions that are equally priced as second hand cars. One is a ES D2 with lots of options including all round parking sensors, glass roof, full leather, and park assist. The other is a standard SE with no options. My heart is telling me to go with the ES but will resell value be lower even with the options compared to the SE?

The D2 is a Ford/PSA belt cam 1.6 115PS/270Nm torque motor. It's good when new; not so good once it begins to age. When people see an ad and check a price guide they'll price an SE higher than an ES and that's the hook that gets them to come and see the car. It's only when they see this ES with all the kit it's got that their heart might rule their head, as it is doing to you.
