Is there a better value for money 7-seat MPV than the Ford S-Max?

I am seriously looking to buy a 7-seat MPV shortly with a budget of around £12,000. Everybody, including your good self, seems to rave about the S-Max, but looking at the reviews and specs, it does seem to attract a large price premium. I'm going to keep the car for a long time with annual mileage around 12,000. Are there any real practical/financial advantages of the S-Max over the Touran and other competitors?

Also look at the often neglected KIA Carens. Much better value for money.
