Need a quick hatchback - any suggestions?

After a run of fairly fast cars I am looking to buy a Golf sized vehicle. Do you have any wisdom on what is the minimum power you would feel happy with?

It's surprising what works these days. To my mind Peugeot's 308 1.2 Puretech 130 because as well as 130 PS it has 230Nm torque, so is fast enough, yet also does 50+ mpg. VAG's 1.4TSI ACT 150 in Golfs, etc, pulls even better, but isn't as economical.
