Will Mercedes-Benz contribute to the cost of repairing my 2006 ML320's steering rack?

My 2006 Mercedes-Benz ML320 Sport has developed a leak of power steering fluid from the steering rack after four years. They have said the steering rack should be replaced at a cost of £3000 plus labour, quoted at about £1000. Should I accept this, or claim that it is a mechanical failure which shouldn't happen in a properly serviced car after only four years and ask for a contribution from Mercedes-Benz?

You should ask for, a contribution from Mercedes-Benz and if they won't give it, go elsewhere and have the existing rack repaired rather than replaced.
