Buying a new Audi A3 - petrol or diesel?

I am interested in buying a new Audi A3, but am unsure whether to go for a petrol or diesel. I mostly cover short journeys of 10 to 20 miles. Is it best to stick to petrol and if so 1.4 or 1.8 engine?

Stick with petrol and go for the 1.4TSI 150 ACT engine.
