Would a Hyundai i10 make a good first car?

I'm currently learning to drive and thinking ahead about what car to buy when I've passed.! My daily commute is a 10 mile round trip in heavy city traffic, but I'll also be doing a fair amount of motorway driving.

My budget is around £5000, although I'd happily spend less. I love the look of the new Hyundai i10, but it's out of my budget - are the older i10 models worth considering?

Yes, a Hyundai i10 1.2 would be a good first car.
