Does my Honda FR-V really need new discs at just 62,500 miles?

I took my Honda FR-V diesel in for its 62,500 service and was surprised they told me the rear brake discs need changing. Apparently they're worn out. The pads still have wear so there is no damage to the discs because of worn-out pads. I have never had to change discs on a car before. Is it realistic they've worn out in only 62,500 miles or are they on the make?

They rust through lack of use. 98pc of a car's braking is on the front so surface corrosion does not get cleaned off rear discs as effectively as the fronts.
